An intimate ritual, made monumental.
Created and led by Sarah Jayne Kavali, The Dressing Room is an immersive installation celebrating fashion, identity and the power of clothing to help us reconnect with ourselves.
Spanning almost 24 meters and rising five meters high, the three-storey structure brings together 26 individually curated designer rooms. Designer clothing, treasured objects and carefully chosen details reveal the identities and stories we build through what we wear and surround ourselves with. Hundreds of T-shirts and layers of fabric transform the familiar changing room into a space for reflection, discovery and hope.
Created for the launch of Breast Cancer Cure’s Summer ’26 Tees for a Cure campaign, the project unites leading New Zealand fashion designers and an extraordinary team of creative collaborators, makers and volunteers, supporting vital breast cancer research.
